Environmental
It’s our passion.
We have completed many environmental project throughout the Okanagan including projects with the RDCO, RDNO and CSRD. Our equipment uses full biodegradable hydraulic fluid giving us all peace of mind when working in sensitive water ways and riparian habitat. Our specialty is in-stream riprap work, creek diversions and remediation work. Our crew is knowledgeable, safe and puts the environment first.
Flury Earthworks leads a strong "Leave No Trace" initiative, prioritizing daily upkeep and ensuring that all unwanted materials, whether ours or not, are removed from the site. This commitment ensures that, at the end of each project, the land is left clean and returned to its natural state, reflecting our dedication to environmental responsibility.
Beaver Lake Dam (2025)
Flury Earthworks successfully completed a major dam upgrade at Beaver Lake, providing Lake Country with a clean and reliable water source for the next century.
The project scope included the removal of nearly 10,000 cubic meters of the existing structure and the construction of a new, engineered, earth-layered dam. This new landmark required importing close to 15,000 cubic meters of material and was completed in the Fall of 2025.
The finished dam measures 220 meters long and 46 meters wide at the base. Our specialized work also included the fusing and installation of two 42-inch HDPE pipes for the dam's inlet and outlet.
Following completion, we removed a temporary cofferdam, which required a complex 2,000 cubic meter underwater excavation to depths of four meters.

Crooked Lake Pit(2024/2025)
For two years, Flury Earthworks operated the Ministry of Transportation’s Crooked Lake Pit to support the construction of two major dams on Beaver Lake. Our team executed the full lifecycle of the site—from clearing several acres of timber and performing a 12,000m3 overburden cut to final reclamation in 2025.
Leveraging our certified mines supervision, we successfully moved over 30,000m3 of material and manufactured specialized aggregates through on-site crushing and screening to meet strict dam construction specifications.

Westside Trail (2024/2025)
Flury Earthworks completed over 1km of multi use trail connecting Peachland with West Kelowna. We imported over 10,000 tonnes of material and layered geogrid along a narrow highway rite-of-way. Some sections of slope stabilization were up to 20 meters high.
A great trail to spend a day with the family or commute off the highway.

Beaver Lake Cofferdam (2024)
We first installed a siphon system with over 1 kilometer of 10” HDPE pipe. This allowed water to be bypassed around the existing dam. Cofferdam construction took 2 months and we successfully isolated the existing dam so it can be replaced in 2025. Nearly 10,000 cubic meters of material was moved for this project.

BX Creek Dam Removal & Restoration (2022)
An existing concrete dam had to be demolished and removed from a sensitive riparian habitat during the fisheries window. Prior to this, unsuitable bypass culverts were replaced, a fish salvage was conducted, and BX creek was temporarily diverted. This project also included import and installation of ~1000t of rip rap, removal of ~2000m3 of sediment from behind the dam, installation of 10 riffle pools, bank and toe stabilization, re-grading the site into a natural state, and restoration planting.

Cedar's Bridge & Vicinity Emergency Abutment Repairs (2022/2023)
Flood mitigation works were urgently required along Mission Creek following a heavy freshet season. There had been damage to 3 pedestrian bridges abutments, and 2 trail washouts. The timeline for this project was accelerated as works had to proceed during the Least Risk fisheries window and could not be put off until the next season.
The project included streamflow diversion, site isolation, fish salvage, in-water works, rip rap installations, trail repairs, and LWD installations.

Mission Creek Greenway: Cedar's Bridge Streambank Erosion Repairs (2021)
To access this remote site we first built a half kilometer long road through sensitive riparian habitat. We then installed a cut-off wall followed by two sections of Class 1000 rip rap to protect the existing bridge from erosion damage. As the general contractor on this job we managed the full scope from boardwalk and tree removal, to rip rap installation, trail restoration, planting 200+ plants and hydroseeding.
